SNESTORAGE COMMUNITY
Site rules
SNEStorage is a community for SNES hacking, documentation, tools, and homebrew. These rules keep resources useful, creators credited, and the community welcoming.
Last revised:
A.Community and public profiles
Respect other users wherever you participate on SNEStorage.
-
Do not harass other users
Do not use SNEStorage to harass, intimidate, or deliberately bother other users.
-
Keep your public profile appropriate
Do not use your avatar or other public profile information to display political, controversial, offensive, or otherwise disturbing content.
-
Language depends on context
No word is prohibited solely for being a particular word. However, do not use language to deliberately provoke, insult, or upset other users. Context and intent matter.
B.Resources and previews
Describe and classify your resource accurately, and show what users will actually receive.
-
Uploads must match their description
Do not deliberately misrepresent an upload or include unrelated material. If you describe a resource as a particular tool or asset, the downloaded files must correspond to that resource.
-
Apply the appropriate content warnings
If your resource contains sensitive content, select all of the content warning flags that apply.
-
SNES material only
Only upload material relevant to the SNES, such as hacking resources, documentation, tools, and homebrew. Unrelated uploads are not allowed.
-
Use previews to demonstrate the resource
Previews must be relevant to the resource. Do not use them to upload unrelated or controversial content.
-
Choose accurate classifications
Use submission forms correctly. The game, resource types, categories, and other information must match the resource. For example, do not classify an enemy resource as a player resource.
-
Provide precise information
Be accurate and specific when filling out forms. Avoid vague descriptions or information that does not help users understand the resource.
C.Safety, distribution, and authorship
Share only material you are allowed to distribute, and give every contributor proper credit.
-
No illegal material
Do not upload illegal material to SNEStorage.
-
Use safe and relevant links
Do not put malicious links, links to dubious websites, or links unrelated to a form's purpose into any form.
-
No ROM uploads: share BPS or IPS patches
Uploading ROMs is strictly prohibited, except for homebrew that does not infringe copyright. To share a ROM hack or modified game, upload a BPS or IPS patch instead of the ROM. Do not include the original ROM with the patch.
-
Get permission before sharing someone else's work
Do not upload resources you did not create without permission to redistribute them. Crediting the author does not replace that permission.
D.Comments and discussions
Keep discussions useful and relevant to the resource.
-
Do not spam comments
Do not post promotional links, unrelated or nonsensical messages, or repeated comments multiple times or across different resources.
-
Sensitive discussions need a relevant context
Discussions of sensitive subjects, such as politics or religion, are prohibited in comments unless they are relevant to the context of the resource or discussion.
-
Write meaningful comments
Vague or nonsensical comments may be removed.
E.Visibility and resource permissions
Private visibility does not remove staff access or the permissions of resource contributors.
-
Who can view a private resource
A private resource can be viewed by moderators and administrators, its authors, the user who submitted the resource, and anyone who previously submitted a version of it.
-
Who can manage a resource
Any resource author, the user who submitted the resource, and anyone who previously submitted a version of it may upload new versions, edit the resource, and delete it. Deleting resources or versions must follow the dependency and minimum-version rules in this section.
-
Dependencies must remain accessible
A private resource cannot be used as a dependency of another resource. A resource referenced as a dependency by another resource on SNEStorage cannot be made private. If another resource depends on your resource, you must speak with an administrator or moderator before deleting it.
-
Keep at least one version
An existing resource must always have at least one version. You may delete individual versions, but you must not delete the last remaining version.
F.Moderation and repeated violations
Staff review incidents in context rather than treating every mistake the same way.
-
Repeated violations can lead to stronger penalties
If a user breaks the rules more than once, penalties may become more severe. Staff determine the appropriate response based on the circumstances of each incident.
